Bad sleep and a PR
I had a bad sleep last night. For some reason, my body couldn't seem to find the best sleeping position. I barely got any decent rest. By 4 A.M., I was already awake.
Going back to sleep felt hopeless, so I read a chapter of my current read instead. A few minutes past five, I decided to just go for a run. I thought about doing an easy run or a PR attempt, and eventually chose the latter.
I was feeling good after 2 KM. Very achievable, I thought. Slowed down a bit during the 3rd KM but I managed to finish at 28:24.
A new PR. A successful attempt.
During the run, I saw Tatay Igay, a 70+ year-old runner, who still regularly does his morning sessions. I also ran into an old neighbor and we chatted a bit. Another runner friend passed by too, but I wasn’t in the mood for another conversation.
At home, I checked my previous 5k PRs:
2025 - 29:11
2024 - 31:48
Sometimes, we hardly notice the improvements. But they are there.
It was really good to see my progress. A quiet one.
